National Homeless & Hunger Awareness Week

Categories:

Did you know everyday there's some ridiculous 'day' of something? Today, the day of the writing of this, is Button Day and Have a Party with Your Bear Day.

In the days leading up to Thanksgiving Day (a holiday which I consider valid) are Take a Hike Day (Nov. 17) and World Hello Day (Nov. 21).

The third week of the month is Game and Puzzle Week. And little did I know, it's also National Homeless and Hunger Awareness Week.

Often times we see the homeless person on the street, holding a sign and no doubt asking for money. Once, I saw a person holding a sign which quite honestly read "I need a beer." Can't argue with him for simply stating the truth.

I wonder what stories these people have? What got them to this point in their lives? As Thanksgiving Day approaches and the holidays are nearly here, I want to take a look at the problem facing our communities, as I hope we can all remember the week and possibly move toward alleviating the problem. What do we have to lose?
