Austin police say a person crossing I-35 late Friday night was hit and killed by a driver who fled the scene.  That caused the victim to be struck by at least five other vehicles.

Police say it happened in the 5300 block of north I-35 southbound at 9:43 p.m.  The male pedestrian was hit by a dark colored extended cab pickup truck, which possibly sustained damage to the right side.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.  Police said no one else was injured.  If you have any information in this accident, you're asked to call the APD Vehicular Homicide Unit at 512-974-8164.

 The case remains under investigation.  This is Austin's second fatality of the year.
